For me, as a vendor, CSI has always offered more rewards than any other organization, which I have been a member. Obviously and foremost, at CSI we have the opportunity meet and develop relationships with Architects and designers. Unlike other meetings, CSI’s overall relaxed culture has allowed me to develop those opportunities into true relationships. That was not just to deliver a drawing and a specification, but to have the trust of the Architect to be a part of the design process and there are many projects across the country that I am proud to be a part of that I may not have even won the bid on.
Even more so, CSI has given me some great friendships. Not just in the Architecture community, but among Contractors, subs, and vendors from all disciplines. I cannot begin to even count how many times someone from CSI has contacted me about a project that I was not aware of, but they thought I would be interested in. In the same way my CSI colleagues have provided me with introductions to developers and builders I would otherwise never gotten to see. I have done the same for them and have assisted them in building their business and careers.
What has CSI done for you? How much easier has your career been with the resources CSI membership has provided you? Isn’t it good to know that no matter what your owner wants designed, we are more than likely have a resource for you at CSI to assist you with that design. As offices get smaller and more specialized we still have a group that works together across office lines and vendor lines to work together to help each other. Aren’t there other people in your office, your industry, clients, contractors and vendors who could benefit by being a member of CSI? Isn’t it time you brought a guest to a CSI meeting?
From our planning committee meeting last month (and a huge thanks to all who participated) we have a great year coming up. Starting off with our Gulf States Leadership meeting and on through the new joint industry product show this is going to be a great year! You will be hearing more about it later.
The next 14 - 16 months will revolve around the UT Solar Decathlon team led by our own James Rose. Take time to visit their introductory website and see what Living Light is all about.
