CSI Goes Cruising for Christmas

The Knoxville CSI Chapter took a cruise down the Tennessee River for our Christmas Celebration on the Volunteer Princess. Over 50 CSI members and their guests enjoyed the 2 hour dinner cruise decked out in their Holiday garb. We were honored to have special guests from the East Tennessee Design Center, Duane Grieve & Jan Mosadegh, join us for the festivities.

Our Fun Committee created games to play & prizes to be won. Check out the prize on Geoffery's head.

We collected Toys for Tots again this year, a tradition started by then president Curtis Rosenbaum in 1997. These toys were delivered to the Marine Base the following day, and were greeted with great gratitude. Many, many children were blessed.

Lots of fun, food and fellowship, old friends and new. A Merry Christmas was to be had by all.

2023 CSI Celebrates! The Awards Ceremony

The Knoxville Chapter members and their guests enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Foundry and then celebrated the efforts of all the volunteers that make our chapter successful. We were delighted to have Darson Buckner, past CSI president, to MC the event. Then 3 members were recognized for their extra efforts with a Stepping Up Award. These went to Ginger Aspurua, Katie Goethert and Peter Giddings. The committee chairs received certificates of appreciation and small gifts that tied to their roles; Samer Shatara- Membership Chair; Tyler Goza - Programs Chair; Stacy Colbaugh- Communications Chair; Collin Rummage - Student Affiliate president; Wes Crow - Golf Tournament Chair. Our officers were also recognized: Geoffrey Cavalier - Secretary; Whitney Kaul - Treasurer; and Brent Williams-President-Elect. Aaron Miller (a.k.a Yoda the Wise) received his certificate and a Yoda bobblehead for his desk. The top awards for the evening are the Edward Bankston Award which Geoffrey Cavalier received; the Miller Euler Award, which Stacy Colbaugh received and the top award went to Suzan Jordan, the Gunnar Kraft Award. Wes Crow was honored for the two decades of running our golf tournaments by learning that we are naming our golf tournament after him.

2023 Officer & Board of Directors Installation

Members of CSI Knoxville and guests gathered at the Foundry on August 8th to witness the investiture of the 2023-24 slate of officers and board members. Institute Chair-Elect, William Sunquist, performed the ceremony (with the assistance of HMCSI) The new officers are: Brent Williams, President, Geoffrey Cavalier, Secretary, Suzan Jordan, Treasurer and Kathryn Fuller, Past President. The new board members are (second term) Tyler Goza, Aaron Miller, Patrick Brown, (first term) Ginger Azupuza, Katie Goethert and Lauretta Cocke.
